INNOLAB Partners Map

10 organisations from different regions in Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Greece and UK

The partnership is balanced, with complementary competences (open innovation learning platforms, enterprise education, research skills, regional innovation platforms, expertise in engagement, project management etc) & resources (ICT infrastructure, learning material, library facilities, etc). The partners also have considerable experience in transnational cooperation: five partners have experience of TEMPUS projects.

University of Bradford (UK) brings to the partnership competences in 3 key areas: i) project management & coordination, both institutionally (possessing relevant infrastructure & systems for multi-actor, international partnerships) & individually (in the experience of Prof. Kalantaridis); ii) enterprise education (portfolio of cutting edge programmes & access to educational resources), & iii) research skills for WP2 & in the dissemination of project results in the academic community.

Uzhhorod National University (Ukraine) has considerable expertise in project collaboration with EU universities & education, & a strong record of research. Researchers within the university possess skills relevant to WP2, & the ability to contribute positively to dissemination.

National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (Ukraine) brings to the project considerable expertise in the fields of enterprise education, conduct & dissemination of research & innovation policy. Indeed, NaUKMA is particularly well placed (on account of its networks of contacts) to influence policymakers & enterprises in Ukraine.

National Technical University – Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (Ukraine) brings to the project considerable experience of working with EU universities, knowledge in the use of new technologies & platforms in education. NTU“KhPI” also possesses strong linkages with enterprises & policymakers regionally that will assist significantly in the dissemination of results.

Tallin University of Technology (Estonia) brings to the project strong competences in open innovation learning platforms, leading concept development in the area with existing infrastructure – in the form of 3 company-university innovation platforms. TUT also brings to INNOLAB experience of successful post-socialist transition.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – URENIO (Greece) contributes to the project skills & competences in research and the development of technological services in the field of innovation ecosystems and intelligent cities. This is supported by cutting-edge ICT infrastructure. It also possesses knowledge of regional innovation systems & strategies, & has been actively involved in the development of the emerging innovation system of Thessaloniki.

The Ministry of Education and Science (Ukraine) is a particularly influential partner in the project, as it can facilitate the effective dissemination of INNOLAB results nationally, influencing other universities, regional authorities & providing visibility to other policymakers & enterprises.

Business Incubator of Ternopil Region (Ukraine) is an organisation that brings in a view from innovative enterprises. By virtue of its function and role it is particularly well placed in order to ensure the relevance of project outputs & results for enterprises in Ukraine & Belarus.

Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, (Belarus) contributes to the project research and educational skills in the field of innovation studies. The team is well placed to lead WP6 due to their ability to work with enterprises & students alike. The portfolio of existing projects offers considerable synergies for the advancement of the INNOLAB.

Polotsk State University, (Belarus) contributes considerable skills in research & education. It is also strong in university-enterprise engagement that makes it ideally placed to lead on dissemination. It also has strong relevant infrastructure in the form of the PSU Industrial Park.

Partner competences & skills determined the allocation of tasks & WP leadership with all university partners leading 1 or more WPs. The allocation of WP leadership to all partners (under the overall support of UYoB) is particularly important in developing new individual & institutional competences.

The geographical mix of the EU partners is particularly useful for the purposes of the INNOLAB project. It includes partners from three geographic sub-regions (Northern (TUT), Mediterranean (AUTH-URENIO), and Western Europe (UoB) of the EU. The partners are located in regions with profound disparities in terms of economic development, & policy that would offer rich experiences to partners located in Belarus & Ukraine. Lastly, the three EU partners are located in regions with disparities in their innovative performance (as measured using the Community Innovation Scoreboard): high (West Yorkshire – UoB), average (Estonia – TUT) & emerging (Kentriki Makedonia – AUTH-URENIO).

The geographical mix of the Belarusian & Ukrainian university partners is balanced and particularly relevant for the purposes of this project. More specifically, INNOLAB involves partners from each of the main geographical regions of Ukraine (central, east, west) & very different regions of Belarus (West and North). Moreover, the partners are located in regions that demonstrate profound diversity in their innovative capacities. Two partners (NaUKMA & NTU”KhPI”) are located in leading regions in terms of their innovative capabilities (namely the cities of Kiev & Kharkiv). Two partners (YKSUG, PSU) are located in a region with average (nationally) innovative capabilities. Lastly, one partner (UzNU) is located in one of the laggard regions, in terms of innovative capability.
